Update from Ellen Van Oosten, Ph.D. Professor, Organizational Behavior Faculty Director, Executive Education

MLOC carries forward a 50-year program legacy, from MOD to MPOD and now MLOC, and there are many exciting updates:

Nineteen students in our inaugural cohort, MLOC 1, completed an international practicum applying principles of Appreciative Inquiry in Dublin Ireland in May 2026. Highlights of the trip included being on site at Trinity College, meeting with stakeholders at organizations around Dublin and of course, the Guinness Tour! MLOC 1 students are working intensively on their mastery projects as part of the program capstone where students choose a desired area of mastery and complete an intervention where they hone their skills through application of knowledge and frameworks gained through the courses. The mastery projects span thematic tracks of coaching, team effectiveness, inclusive leadership, leadership development and whole system positive change. MLOC 1 will complete their studies this November and will officially graduate in May 2027.

A new cohort of eighteen students form our second cohort, MLOC 2 and started their program with a full week on campus in August. The hybrid program design is expanding our reach as 75% of the new cohort reside outside of northeast Ohio including Arkansas, California, Florida, North Carolina, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia.

In response to student input and guidance from the MLOC Advisory Board, the program design was updated with a strengthened focus on the future of work and technological disruption as essential context for leadership, development and change.
