The Director will have primary responsibility for the development and expansion of industry relationships and corporate partnerships, yielding internships, with ~100 percent target for internships (by end of Spring-semester) and placement (within 6 months of graduation) for Business Analytics and Intelligence students. This position is dedicated to the Master of Business Analytics and Intelligence (MBAI) program. This position will require that approximately 50 percent of the director’s time be spent on strengthening and expanding, through major initiatives and events, industry relationships and corporate partnerships resulting in internships and subsequent placements for the BAI students. The director will be expected to work collegially, and in partnership, with BAI faculty, Graduate Admissions, Career Management, Alumni Relations, and Marketing colleagues.


  1. Generate internships and placement opportunities for Business Analytics students. To achieve that, the director, in conjunction with Career Management, Alumni Relations, Marketing and other University constituents, will plan and execute effective strategies for strengthening and expanding industry relationships and corporate partnerships. This role is responsible for building an on-going portfolio of individual mentors (based on industry relationships and corporate partnerships) that are likely to hire BAI Students. (45%)
  2. Advance major business analytics initiatives that build industry relationships and corporate partnerships through organizing meaningful events. Work closely with University Marketing and Communication department and other university constituents to develop marketing support that promote these events. Coordinate with UTech Services and Marketing to ensure the upkeep of the program website and the availability of program marketing materials. (15%)
  3. Coach and mentor MBAI students to foster professional and skill development needed for job placement (internships and full-time job upon graduation). Conduct career advising for specific industry or functional areas. Conduct advising and mock interviews to build student career direction, interview proficiency, industry knowledge, communication skills. Perform detailed reviews of resumes. Educate students on external resources for their job search as needed. Develop and teach workshops, if needed, on business writing and career development topics. Develop and implement other initiatives that prepare students for the job market. Maintain direct contact with the students and provide leadership in developing their portfolios for achieving targeted internship and placement targets set for this position. Engage industry and corporate mentors to interact with BAI students through such initiatives. Create additional forums for placement opportunities. (10%)
  4. In coordination with faculty directors and other multiple constituencies across the management school and the university, manage day to day activities of the MBAI program, including planning and participating in the incoming students’ orientation, organizing and managing industry-related student programs; including internships, guest speakers, industry trips, seminars, special events, competitions, etc. (10%)
  5. Maintain, update, and enhance (in consultation with faculty directors) the metrics and data related to internship, job placements and current work (job/internship) status of MBAI students and alumni, utilizing the available reporting tools. Nurture and develop MBAI alumni relations as a means of growing industry relationships and corporate partnerships. (10%)
  6. Assist in identifying, qualifying, and recruiting (in conjunction with Graduate Admissions) domestic and international students into the program. (10%)


Perform other duties as assigned by faculty directors. (5%)


Department: Frequent contact with the faculty directors. Continuous contact with staff as required to perform essential functions.

University: Regular contact with alumni, directors of administrative departments, faculty and staff as required to perform essential functions.

External: Continuous and frequent contact with industry and corporate supporters and prospects.

Students: Frequent contact with Business Analytics students, and prospects, as required to perform essential functions.


This position has no direct staff supervisory responsibility.


Education/Experience: Master’s degree in business or related field and 10 or more years of corporate experience required; or Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and 15 or more years of corporate experience required.


  1. Must have strong program management experience. Experience in an analytics-related industry and/or an academic institution is desirable.
  2. Successful track record of working with C-suite professionals and an expansive access to the corporate contacts within the BAI field.

  4. Ability to work autonomously and a strong outcome-focused orientation

  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues.
  8. Computer proficiency (including Microsoft Office) and the ability to learn new programs.
  9. Proven track record of developing and maintaining industry and corporate relationships.
  10. Ability to meet established goals and to accommodate flexible schedule where work may need to be done in the evening hours and weekends
  11. Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and customers face to face.


General office environment. Occasional night and weekend hours. Occasional travel to industry and corporate partner sites.
