Director Change Management, Blue Card Modernization – Blue Cross Blue Shield Association – Chicago, IL


This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute change activities, communication, and training strategy for the Blue Card Modernization program. This includes:

  • By partnering with Business, EIT and Plans, execute a strategy to make change easy for impacted users and stakeholders
  • Working with the Program team and impacted stakeholders develop and execute the change management strategy and plan
  • Creating best practices and a standard toolkit for user communications, user engagement, training and rollout for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Apply critical thinking, and take the initiative to drive results
  • Guide the team to achieve operational success and drive adoption for end-users
  • Additionally this role will be a trusted advisor to the ED, Strategic Program Management in all items related to change management, communications, training and rollout of BCM capabilities and functions


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and execute and training and development strategy for BCM program resources. Develop and execute a training strategy for end-users of BCM capabilities. Partner with internal and external stakeholders to clearly communicate training strategy and approach and continuously improve based on teammate feedback and results.
  • Establish and deliver change management processes and tools, resulting in effective adoption, utilization, and realized value of BCM capabilities both internally and externally. Leverage knowledge and data from feedback, surveys, and other inputs to inform change strategy and initiatives. Identify change related issues, define action plans, and partner with appropriate stakeholders to mitigate risk.
  • Develop and execute on a BCM communication strategy that aligns with the BCM’s mission and operating tenants. Identify communication gaps (at all levels of the BCM program) and put a plan in place to address. Provide well-written, accurate, clear business communications on various BCM capabilities. Working with internal stakeholders in the BCM program, manage and oversee all BCM related communications. Build and nurture cross-functional relationships across BCBSA as well as with the Plans. Influence and innovate to maximize change adoption for all BCM capabilities. Ensure a positive end-user experience (bother internal and external) for changes impacting people, process, and technology.
  • Assists in preparing presentations for BCM governance and program related meetings. Coordinates events, forums, conferences: prepares agendas, presentations, facilities, attendees, etc.


Required Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 5+ years of training, change management and communication experience
  • 10+ years’ experience working on developing and delivering written and visual communications
  • Experience developing and executing change management strategies for transformational initiatives involving both business and technological changes
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working on large scale project and program
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment
  • Experienced in meeting facilitation
  • Knowledgeable about Health Care industry and Health insurance systems and processes
  • Familiarity with both Agile and SDLC development lifecycle methodologies
  • Extensive collaboration skills

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate, persuade, and make effective presentations to varying audiences

  • Strong leadership and consensus-building skills in a decentralized decision-making structure
  • Highly skilled in the planning and delegating multiple high impact, large-scale, complex projects
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for building and fostering key relationships
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Visio and Power Point skills
